At this year’s awards “The best Bulgarian company of the year” the Bulgarian start-up PPS Manufacturing was awarded with a prize in the category “Adaptation in conditions of change”. This is an entirely new category in the nine-year history of the competition and is related to the current economic and pandemic situation. PPS Manufacturing was awarded for its timely start of production of personal protective medicine equipment and more precisely nitrile protective gloves to meet the deficits and the needs in the country, which increased sharply during the pandemic.
The awards of this year’s edition of the business competition were given at an official ceremony in the gallery “Vivacom Art Hall”, Oborishte 5. Every year the initiative of Fibank has the purpose to popularize the best business models in Bulgaria and to focus the public attention to the successful examples of entrepreneurship, as well as to display that Bulgaria has world-class companies. Among the nearly 300 Bulgarian companies, nominated this year, were representatives of various industries – from food producers to transportation companies, advertising agencies, health and cosmetic centers, to IT companies.
“We are proud to be awarded with this recognition “Special award for adaptation in conditions of change” at the prestigious competition “The best Bulgarian company of the year”. The idea of PPS Manufacturing was born with the purpose to help people and respond to the need to production of nitrile gloves in Europe, which is completely lacking at this moment in the continent. We are positive about the future and work hard in order to provide protection to as many people as possible in these uncertain times, when the health is a key topic and a priority”, said Georgi Petkov, chairmen of the board of directors at PPS Manufacturing.
PPS Manufacturing is a unique Bulgarian start-up, located in Plovdiv and fully funded by a Bulgarian instrument – Fund for Sustainable Cities as the investment exceeds 10 million leva and will create over 100 new workplaces for the region of Plovdiv. In this moment there is no production of protective nitrile gloves for the healthcare, industry and home consumption in Europe and the creation of such enterprise in our country, especially in pandemic conditions, will ensure great economic advantage to Bulgaria and Europe and will be a typical example of nearshoring, a trend to return key productions from Asia to Europe to provide reliable and secure deliveries of important products.
